Reba Join The Rusch

She's raced in some of the toughest places on earth, has won the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race 4 times, and is a 6-time world champion, but Rebecca Rusch ranks her latest adventure - writing a book about her life - alongside some of her most challenging and satisfying experiences. To celebrate the publication of Rusch to Glory, a collection of inspiring stories about her life, Rebecca is launching the book in Leadville as part of #JoinTheRusch: The Leadville Experience. This week long event includes ride clinics, tips for racing Leadville, book reading/signing, and race-day motivation from Rebecca.

"Leadville is a special race for me," said Rusch. "It really helped propel my mountain bike career. But the thing that really makes it close to my heart is the riders and community. They're like family to me. It just made sense to launch the book here and share it with them first."

#JoinTheRusch: The Leadville Experience gives riders the opportunity to learn from this 4-time winner thought rides, clinics, and Q&A's. Any rider gunning for the win or a personal best can use the tips and strategies Rebecca will teach to roll across the red carpet in perfect time and have the race of their life.

The Leadville is a mental and physical challenge for even then most experienced athletes. It takes much more than pedal strokes to get across the line. The theme of going deeper, of discovering how you can physically and mentally push yourself, is explored many times in the pages of Rusch to Glory.

"I really wanted to write a book that inspired people to go after their own goals," she said. "Part of it is having the right tools, of knowing how to motivate yourself when you're in pain, or there are emotional setbacks, or there's a lot of outside interference in what you're trying to achieve. I really hope that by reading my stories, people feel empowered to chase their own dreams."

The highlight the week will be the officially launch the book on the Thursday before the race at the history Tabor Opera House. Attendees will not only be able to hear Rusch read pages from Rusch to Glory but also get first print, signed copies. The event will serve as a fundraiser for local and international bike charities and includes an after party food and wine happy hour. About the Book:
Rusch to Glory by Rebecca Rusch, available October 2014

"Rusch to Glory"
By Rebecca Rusch and Selene Yeager

Rebecca Rusch is one of the great endurance athletes of her generation, relentlessly fast on her feet, climbing mountains, or racing a bike. But she began her journey with an unceremonious start - by joining the high school track team to score a free tracksuit. This scrawny Chicago kid soon abandoned a predictable life, heading from home to wander the world and find adventure. Trekking through Borneo, mountain climbing in Patagonia, navigating the rivers of Vietnam, racing bikes across the Andes - Rusch's rambling saw her discover the adrenalin sport of adventure racing, stare down her demons, witness the tragic death of a friend, and rise toward a glass ceiling in sports.

Rusch to Glory is set in the exotic locales and extreme conditions that forged an extraordinary athlete from ordinary roots. Known today as the Queen of Pain for her incredible perseverance against all odds, Rebecca Rusch tells her story of transformation to inspire anyone to discover their own greatness.
